Wight Tri members, Michaela Heathcote and Steve Dines travelled to Cirencester to take part in the Cotswolds Sprint Triathlon.
A 750m swim in the Cotswold Country Park lake, followed by a 20km cycle on quiet country roads and a 2 lap 5km run on paths around the lake.
New member, Michaela had a super start to her first triathlon in several years, with a swift swim of 16:08 to enter T1 in 4th position in the 50-54 age group. Steve swam in 19:12 and 8th in his 60-64 category.
Onto the bike. As this is Steve’s strongest discipline, he was soon passing competitors in younger age groups to complete the 20km cycle route in 35:14, moving up to 7th position. With a fast 23:37 for the 5km run, he finished in 7th position in the 60-64 age group in 1:20:51.
However, Michaela lost a few places on the bike but still put in a sterling performance to complete the bike and run in 44:48 and 33:09.
She posted a finish time of 1:37:36 and a super 12th in the 50-54 age group.
