Simon Jones of Wight Tri and part of the IW Talented Athlete Scheme, represented Team GB for the second time at the European Age Group Sprint Duathlon Championships in Kalkur, Germany.
Simon had an excellent first 5km run of 18.52 to enter T1 in 4th position and first GB athlete. However a slower bike leg of 33.42 for the 20km cycle, saw him being overtaken by two of his GB team mates. Even with a very strong 2nd run of 10.27 for the 2.5km run wasn’t enough to make up ground on his team mates. Simon finished in an excellent 6th position overall and 3rd GB athlete.
This gives Simon automatic qualification for the 2017 European Sprint Age Group Duathlon Championships.
